Pinterest is so much more than just pinning party planning ideas or the dream wedding. It has become a very powerful social media source for visual marketing and a way for companies to spread their brand, product, or service. The question is how can you use Pinterest for your company and see results?

Here are 3 tips on how to use Pinterest to its full marketing capacity and become a “Pinterest Professional.”

1. Do Your Research

Know who your customers are and follow them. People are more likely to follow your boards when you reach out to them first. Pinterest’s audience is still predominantly women, so take that into consideration when creating your plan of attack. Along the same lines, it is important to find your niche on Pinterest. For example. Engauge social media expert Drew Hawkins made Pinterest work for him when targeting men and now has more than 1 million followers. Take the time to sit down and translate your business’ information into visual presentations. Completing the research and coming up with a strategy is the most time consuming part, but it will make a world of difference in the execution.

2. Create a Smart Pin

More than 80% of pins on Pinterest are repins according to RJMetrics, so this is a great way capitalize on Pinterest users as a marketing tool. However, you must start off with an image that draws people in and creates interest. The image should be able to catch a person’s attention while scrolling through a multitude of pins. Another important aspect of a great pin is utilizing the description box below the image. Use this opportunity to put your URL with a short and informative description. Also add hashtags to group your pins and increase Pinterest SEO. You want to give each pin the biggest chance of being seen by a large quantity of people.

3. Brand Your Pinterest

When setting up your Pinterest account you should always keep your brand and company image in mind. This means always connecting your boards, pins, and information back to your website. The “About You” section of Pinterest is repeatedly not used to its full ability. However, it can be a great way to introduce new clients and customers to your business. Make sure you include a short but informative description of your company, the link to your website, and the location of your business. A great example is pinning your logo and attaching it back to your website to draw customers and interest. A goal for your Pinterest plan of attack should be having a brand that is recognizable to users.

Pinterest is a great opportunity to expand your brand and/or product reach if used correctly. Use these helpful tips to create your own Pinterest plan and see this social media outlet can give you a heads up on the competition.

“If I was down to my last dollar, I’d spend it on public relations.” – Bill Gates

In an ever-growing digital world, we are always connected. The rise of social media alone has drastically changed the landscape of how people, and brands communicate. So what does this mean for the field of public relations? One of the largest advantages of the digital era is the ability to utilize press releases more than ever before. Using carefully chosen keywords and social media links, each press release issued can be a catalyst for growth. So how do we go about writing an optimized press release? And what are the real advantages?

3 Reasons to Use Optimized Press Releases

1. Showcase your company as the industry expert for your keywords.

Using tools like Google Insights and Google Adwords; any company can easily discover which relevant keywords are most searched and most effective. (We recommend running Google Analytics on every company webpage to discover what keywords are driving traffic there in the first place. For more on Google Analytics services, contact MH1 Web Design). Link these keywords in your press release to relevant pages on your company website to create powerful backlinks. Search engines are always looking for fresh, relevant backlinks using your keywords and linking to your website pages. Try and limit links to 3 maximum in every release. You want your content to be specific and useful, not overwhelming spam.

2. Increase page ranking.

Using optimized press releases (now full of keywords linked to your website), will increase your page ranking for those keywords, meaning your company page will now show up closer to the top of the search results list. Ideally, companies want their website to show up on the first page of Google search results for their most important keywords. An optimized press release is a cost effective way to accomplish this.

3. Open communication channels.

Linking your now keyword rich press release to social media channels not only allows for a better chance at press pick-up, but it gives your press release access to the public at large. There are many social channels to work with, but of primary importance are Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin. If your company has a presence on any or all of these channels, make sure to put a link or call to action (ex: “Follow us on Twitter!”). Encourage readers to connect. Relevant information is key in the digital age, and above all access to that information is the first step for reaching your customers.
